The Power of Birth Affirmations (& How to Use Them)!

Hi there!

“Instead of worrying about what you cannot control, shift your energy to what you can create.”

― Roy T. Bennett

There is no doubt about it… when we fill our mind consistently & consciously  with positive & optimistic thoughts we have a higher chance of experiencing that which we want to experience, and it is backed up by both psychology and neuroscience!

The self-affirmation theory is based in psychology and says, “the idea that we can maintain our sense of self-integrity by telling ourselves (or affirming) what we believe in positive ways.

Very briefly, self-integrity relates to our global self-efficacy—our perceived ability to control moral outcomes and respond flexibly when our self-concept is threatened (Cohen & Sherman, 2014). So, we as humans are motivated to protect ourselves from these threats by maintaining our self-integrity.”

What this means is we as individuals have the ability to control the outcome by maintaining a positively affirmed self-identity.

In birth this looks like… filling ourselves with positive affirmations prenatally and during birth itself… using words and language that allow us to trust our body, trust the process and believe in our ability to handle the intensity of it all.  The more we fill ourselves up with the thoughts that we CAN do this, then the more likely we are to bring ourselves into having a positive birth experience.

(But don’t forget that a very necessary part of the process is ALSO learning how to release control of the outcome and HOW things will unfold… because of course not everything is in our control… and of course sometimes our plans need to shift).

I have created printable positive birth affirmations that you receive when signing up for my email list.

You can print these out and place around your home, and bring with you to your birthing location, if giving birth outside the home.  These are great for both pregnancy and during labor.

In addition, I have created an audio with birth affirmations that you can listen to throughout your days, during pregnancy and during labor to support your mind in staying positive.

We are here to support you! Please take a look at my offerings and contact me to schedule a free 30-minute Discovery Call if you would like to put together a prep plan today!

Xx,

Jen
